Well we have discovered recently that Isabelle LOVES for us to read to her. It is about the only time she will sit on our laps and actually be still. She looks like she is concentrating really hard, and she even likes to help turn the pages. I also have something to brag on her about...but I will save that for the end. Anyway, she has a "Little Blessings" book that our friends from South Carolina gave her titled "God Loves You." She really likes this book and we have been reading it to her over and over again. Last night, as I was reading it to her for about the fourth time, I realized that it's message is actually something that we all need to hear sometimes, so I decided to post it for my TT:
You can be silly or you can be sad.
You can be merry or you can be mad.
You can be grumpy or you can be glad.
God loves you just as you are.
You can be short or you can be tall.
You can be big or you can be small.
Your size and your shape don't matter at all.
God loves you just as you are.
You can be messy or you can be neat.
You can be poky or fast on your feet.
March with the others or to your own beat.
God loves you just as you are.
You can be dark or you can be light.
You can be shades of the day or the night.
Whatever your color, it suits you just right.
God loves you, just as you are.
God made each part from your head to your toe.
Day in and day out he is helping you grow.
God made you special and that's how you know:
God loves you just as you are.
It is so easy to compare ourselves to others. We want to be shorter, taller, thinner, smarter, have different talents, a different nose, different hair, etc. But God made us each individuals for a reason! Wouldn't life be boring if we were all exactly the same? That's not to say that we shouldn't aspire to better ourselves in certain areas, but we shoud find comfort and confidence in the fact that God made us exactly the way we are for a reason, and that He loves us that way!
- "So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them...Then god saw everything that he had made, and indeed it was very good..." (Genesis 1:27 and 31a)
- "I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well." (Psalm 139:14)
So...onto the bragging part. :D We have been talking about animal sounds with Isabelle a lot lately. (my mom started it) We tell her that cows say "moo", dogs say "woof", birds say "tweet", etc. Well yesterday evening we decided to go driving down the parkway just to get out of the house for a little while, and we stopped at one of the overlooks and got out of the car for a few minutes. There were trees all around us, so naturally you could hear lots of birds singing. So I asked Isabelle, "what do birds say?" Then, out of her mouth comes, "tee, tee". I thought "no way, that was just a fluke, she didn't really know what she was saying." So I asked her again, and again, she said "tee, tee!" I asked her five times in a row, and all five times, she said "tee, tee"! Then, just to be sure, I asked her again when we got home, and she said it again! Wow!
So this morning we were looking at her "God Loves You" book and there is a picture of a bird in it. She puts her little fingers on the bird and says "tee, tee!" Okay, maybe I'm just biased, but I think that is amazing!
Of course, when I called my mom so she could hear her say it, she wouldn't say a word...but I guess that's just how it works...

She will never perform when you want her to!
I'm glad God loves me even though he knows what my hair looks like in the mornings. He's pretty spewey like that.
Thanks for helping me keep my word alive, Amber. You're awesome, I mean spewey.
And I think your hair is beautiful in the morning. :)
I agree. I find I'm always comparing myself to others. God doesn't do that. Thanks for helping me remember.
