Finally, a Thursday Thought! Sorry I haven't gotten one up for the past few weeks. I guess these past couple weeks have just been really busy with company coming in and the holiday and such and I have just slacked off with my Bible study. Everytime I tried to sit down and do a TT, I just couldn't come up with anything. Anyway, no more excuses. I am getting back on track now.
I finally finished reading the book of Joshua, so I thought I would post a few thoughts from the end of the book. The last time I posted was in chapter 9, when the Israelites had made a covenant with the Gibeonites without seeking the Lord's counsel. Between ch. 9 and the end of the book, the Isrealites fought many battles, and many interesting things happened that I could share(you should read it for yourself), but I think verses 43-45 from chapter 21 sums it up nicely:
- "Thus the Lord gave to Israel all the land that he swore to give to their fathers. And they took possesion of it, and they settled there. And the Lord gave them rest on every side just as he had sworn to their fathers. Not one of all their enemies had withstood them, for the Lord had given all their enemies into their hands. Not one word of all the good promises that the Lord had made to the house of Israel had failed; all came to pass."
Just as the Lord kept his good promises to the Israelites, He also keeps His promises to us.
- Galatians 3:26-29 says, " for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ's then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise."
If you are a Christian, then you have been born again "to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you." (1 Peter 1:4)
There were a few other verses in Joshua that stood out to me.
- Chapter 23, verses 10 and 11 say, "One man of you puts to flight a thousand, since it is the Lord your God who fights for you, just as He promised you. Be very careful, therefore, to love the Lord your God."
- Finally, in Joshua 24:14, 15 it says, "Now therefore fear the Lord and serve Him in sincerity and in faithfulness. Put away the gods that your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
So now I have moved on to the book of Judges and am finding that very interesting also. Maybe I'll do a post about that next week. I know you're all on pins and needles....right? :D

Hey...this has nothing to do with TT...I'll comment on that in a little while when I sit down and read it :-)
I just added the new blog list like you have and I'm having some issues! It says you don't have a feed, or Andrea, or Amber etc...but it did put a few on there. Maybe it still has some glitches in it. I know it's new. Do you have any advice?!?
Okay...I just got some of it fixed...I guess because I already had you on Google Reader it wouldn't do it twice. But it still won't do Jeanette...and I see her on yours...Oh well...
I sent your package on Wednesday...you're other stuff should get here early next week and I'll send it ASAP.
Yay! The star is back!!!
I think of the rainbow when Noah made the covenent with God. God keeps his promises.
Good thoughts!
I like the "be very careful to love the Lord your God"
Enjoy Judges, maybe I'll read it too. My favorite Bible heroine is in that book. Can you guess who she is?
I missed your Thursday Thoughts. I really like Joshua 23:10-11 too, I am going to mark it in my bible.
Tabby,
Tonight after evening Bible study we met with another couple studying for Bible Bowl in Sept which is on Joshua. I love the first chapter which states 3 times be strong and courageous. This is good for us because Ken is facing a possible strike with Verizon
