Virginia is for the Lesters!

This past weekend, our very dear friends, the Lesters, came up all the way from Georgia to see us! We had a great time going to see all the sites of the city with them, and just hangin out and being goofy. Good friends are one of God's greatest blessings...

On Saturday, after all the kids had a nap, we went to see what was going on downtown. We went to the Market building for lunch. It used to be a meat market, but now it is a building full of neat places to eat. They've got Greek food, Japanese, Chinese, Pizza, Burgers, BBQ, Cheese steaks, and a plethora of other things. Oh, and don't forget the sweets. Anyway, it is a neat place.

Sarah and I decided to be daring and eat something we hadn't tried before...so we went for some Greek food. She had the Lamb Kabob, and I had a Gyro (lamb and beef). We also got a piece of baklava. That was the first time I'd eaten it, and it was DELICIOUS!

After we ate, we walked around downtown to work off some of that yummy food. We saw lots of neat things at the farmers market...
And some cultural stuff...

Then we went to the Science Museum.

I told you Isabelle would eat anything...even electricity...

That night, we ate at TGIFriday's and got some deep-fried green beans. (The Lesters had never experienced this fine dining before), then went up to The Roanoke Star on top of Mill Mountain.

Sunday we just relaxed and went to the mall for a little shopping...then Monday Ben had to work...but we went out and TRIED to have fun anyway. ;)

We went to see St. Andrew's cathedral.(we didn't get to go in...there was a funeral happening at the time.)

Then we went to Natural Bridge and went to Dinosaur Kingdom.

This is about the time that the batteries in my camera died...but we also went to Safari Park...which was really neat. There were all these camels, llamas, emus, and a variety of other animals sticking their heads in our windows...(a little scary). Sarah got some good pictures from that, but they are in Kentucky visiting family and won't be home till next week some time, so you may have to wait a while to see those pics on her blog.

Anyway, we had a great time, and hope the Lesters decide to come back to the mountains of Virginia real soon!
