Wild and Wonderful West Virginia

This weekend while Ben was out of town for training for work, Izzy and I decided to take a trip to Wild and Wonderful West Virginia to visit my Dad and his wife, Sherry. My brother Don decided to go with us, and I'm so glad he did, because getting there was quite a trip. Those were some curvy roads. We got there Saturday night and stayed till Monday night. Anyway, just wanted to share a few pictures from our trip...

Sunday we went to church and then just relaxed during the afternoon. Dad grilled steaks for lunch and Sherry made baked sweet potatoes, corn on the cob, and salad to go with them.

These two were taken outside the church Sunday night...my baby playing with the petunias.

Then Monday we drove around and saw the sights of the town where they live, then drove up to a little town called Phillipi, WV

This is a close-up of Isabelle with Grandma Sherry riding in the back of the car.

Phillipi is the town where supposedly the first land battle of the Civil War happened. The covered bridge you see in the pictures was destroyed during the flood of '85, and had to be re-built, but parts of it date back to the Civil War.

Me and my Dad.

Me and my Bubber.

There was a quirky little town museum right beside the bridge, with a very quirky museum guide. (I wish I had taken a picture of her.)

This is a miniture of the covered bridge that was inside the museum...

Old switchboard...not really sure how old, just thought it was neat looking.
My brother mishandling the artifacts...
These pictures were taken that evening at the house... just thought this one was cute of my soon-to-be one year old.
This is their dog, Rufus. Poor thing. His hind feet don't work, so he just kind of drags them behind him like a fishtail. It's pretty funny. He's a sweet dog.

Isabelle really enjoyed playing with, er, um torturing Rufus. Notice the bewildered way he's looking at her in this picture...
Rufus and Isabelle begging for food...
This one is of me, my brother, my Dad, and Isabelle.
Paw-paw, Grandma Sherry, and Isabelle.
This last picture is of a new friend that Isabelle made while we were at church. Her name is Grace, and she is pretty much the only baby at their church, so I think she enjoyed having someone her size to play with!

Anyway, we had a great time, but we are glad to be home!

(On a side note: when I did the google search for West Virginia images, I came across this picture of some suspects for a hate crime. All I have to say is: WoW, scary.)

Don't you love all the comments you get about your baby's hair? It's so much fun to have a red head.

I'm so glad you have a new post, I've been missing you! She looks so serious looking at the flowers!

Larry and I forgot about your trip. We got worried when you weren't posting or commenting. You are right about those roads in WV. We went through there after we left your house and it was all mountains. Glad you had a good trip.

Isabelle just keeps getting cuter.
