Serving at the Rescue Mission

Saturday, our Caring and Sharing group from church went down to the Rescue Mission to take a tour and serve dinner. We had a great turnout! Even better than I thought! There were 12 of us that went on the tour, and 19 of us there to serve dinner!! It was a lot of fun to serve together, and everyone said they had a great experience.

Here is the group of us getting ready to go on the tour of the Rescue Mission. It is a huge facility! They do so much good. I had no idea the extent to which they ministered to people. They have seperate buildings for the men and women, and another one for families with children. They have a recovery program, and they also have classes to teach them computer skills, interviewing skills, and art skills. They also provide medical and dental assistance to people who don't have jobs. It was great to see first hand how much good they do.

Hillary and Michael:

Hollie and Kazia handed out napkins and "table favors". The table favors were little baggies with a few peppermints in them and labels on the front. The labels had Psalm 119:103 printed on them which says, "How sweet your words taste to me; they are sweeter than honey.” They also had the church name, address and phone # printed on them. We handed out almost 300 of them!

Here's Hannah, Lisa, Lela, and Tommy(our preacher) peeling and chopping taters:

Here are our dishwashers extraordinaire: Carolyn, Mike, and Tom:

Serving dinner to Christ:

"And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’ "

That looked like a great day! I'm know doing things like that make you truely appreciate the little things. I pray those people you all encountered will be blessed and maybe even seek some help/answers from your church. (The favor bag was a really sweet touch)
