4th of July pics and Garden Updates

We had a great 4th of July! My little sister Susy organized a cookout at my Mom's house, and she asked me to make a dessert. I was so proud of how pretty it turned out, that I had to take a picture. I started with a whole-wheat pizza crust (I used one of those pre-made crusts, but next time I think I'll makemy own. It would probably have tasted better.) The topping is a mixture of cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and a little vanilla. Then I just lined up the fruit in a starburst pattern. It turned out to be very patriotic looking I think! You could probably do this with just about any fruit. You could also opt for baked sugar cookie dough instead of the pizza crust. I just thought it would be a little healthier.

As you can see, Isabelle enjoyed helping me eat the leftover strawberries...

My mom's next door neighbors have some "moo cows" so we went over to say hi.


Then last night, we had a pretty good view of some fireworks from our backyard, but I couldn't get any really good pictures of them. Hope you all had a fun-filled fourth as well!

Now, onto the garden update! We are finally getting some veggies! I am so proud of our little garden!

Also wanted to post a little evidence of my husband working in the garden: he's putting up a make-shift trellis for the cucumber plant. He's actually turned out to be quite the gardener...I think he even spends more time out there than I do!
