Last night, on her "Road to Victory" Rally, Sarah Palin made a stop in my hometown! She came to the football stadium where my high school plays!! Ben was in class, but my sister watched Isabelle for me so I could go and hear her speak! It was such a neat experience! This is a picture of my mom and I waiting for the rally to start. She and her friend Kay got there at around noon, and Sarah Palin didn't speak until around 7. They saved me a seat, and I met them there around 4:30. I saw on the news that there were people camping out the night before so they could get a could seat. They handed out these colored t-shirts for us to wear. Our whole side of the stadium spelled out USA. (You can see it in one of the videos below.) We were the blue in the middle of the red "S". We were about 5 rows up, DIRECTLY behind where her platform was.
My mom and her friend Kay: The stadium was PACKED with people who came with all kinds of signs:
Before Sarah got there we heard several local representatives and state congressmen speak, but the real excitement started when Sarah got there! The crowd went crazy! The excitement was so contagious! I really felt like I was a part of history.
Here she is makin her entrance with her husband, Todd.
They said on the news that there were around 16,000 people there, but I think it was probably over 20,000. Supposedly, the stadium holds 20,000 people, and as you can see, both sides of the stands and the field are completely packed, and there were people lined up around the sides of the stadium too. I never thought I would see that football field covered in a sea of people like that.
Her speech was great! She had everyone so pumped!
Sarah and the "First Dude".
Then, as I was walking to my car, they stopped us so her motorcade could come through. I don't know which car she was in, but I just had to snap a picture.
Anyway, it was an awesome experience, and I'm so glad I get to say I was a part of it!
Here are a couple of videos from YouTube of the rally last night:
