Just want to give a disclaimer that this going to be a long and probably very boring post, so I understand if you don't want to read the whole thing....I just need to vent, so I am doing it for the whole world to read. :P
Well, it has been a very eventful week to say the least. Actually, it has been a very eventful MONTH, but I won't bore you with all the details, I will just say that we've had something big to do every weekend for the past 5 weekends in a row, (trip to WV, Isabelle's birthday, trip to NC, Luau at church, then a yardsale last weekend.) And this coming weekend we are making a LONG trip to Georgia to see our friends (a trip well worth it I might add.) So, anyway, the point to all that rambling is that we are TIRED!
So now that you have the background info, here is a recap of this week so far:
Sunday was our anniversary, but we didn't spend much of that day together, although Isabelle did spend the night with Ben's mom on Saturday night, so we got a much needed break and date night! (Thanks, Grandma!) Ben had an orientation at his school Sunday morning. (They justified having a MANDATORY orientation on a Sunday morning by offering Catholic Mass.) I went to church by myself then spent most of the afternoon at Walmart getting pictures scanned and doing grocery shopping, and got home just in time for us to put groceries away and hop in the car to go to church that evening....
Monday started out as a normal day: We woke up, I fed Isabelle a bannana and some blueberries for breakfast, then we went downstairs, and I set her on the floor and let her watch a show on Noggin while I checked my email. While I'm sitting at the computer, I hear her make a coughing/choking sound. I run over and she hands me a little piece of plastic that I guess she found on the floor, so I thought she had put it in her mouth, and spit it back out without actually swallowing it, because she was no longer making the coughing sound, and seemed to be fine. Then about 10 minutes later, she suddenly starts crying like something is hurting her. I pick her up and try a number of different things to console her, like food(that one always works), drink, etc. Nothing helped. She began wailing and looking at me to help her, and this went on for like 15 minutes or so, and that is NOT like my baby. I could tell something was hurting her. I had only gotten about 4 or 5 hours of sleep the night before (for some reason it was just one of those nights where I couldn't sleep), and so I was very tired and became a little distraught when I couldn't figure out what was wrong. I was afraid that something was lodged in her throat, so I called the paramedics, and when they got there, of course she quit wailing, but she was still whining and acting uncomfortable, I thought. But they said her heartrate and breathing was normal so I should just watch her. Ben had come home at this point, and she finally started to calm down a little and went to sleep, so Ben went back to work.
When she woke up, she was still kind of whiny, and not like her normal self, but she seemed a little better, except when I would put her down on the ground to play. When she would bend over or try to crawl, she would start crying like she was in pain. I knew something wasn't normal, so I called and got her a DR appt thinking maybe they could Xray her to see if something was lodged in there, and she took a nap on the way there. Ben left work and met us at the Dr's office. When we got inside, she was like a totally different baby than she had been all day. She was happy, smiling, laughing, and crawling around like her normal self. You know how when your car is making a weird noise, and then you take it to the mechanic, and it quits making the noise? Yeah, that is what happened, but we decided to go ahead and wait to see the doctor anyway since we were already there. He couldn't find anything wrong with her, and said "maybe she just wanted to be picked up." That made me so mad!! I know my baby, and SOMETHING was wrong with her! Anyway, he said that if she did swallow something, we would probably just have to wait for it to pass.
We took her home and had a fairly normal evening, then Tuesday was a pretty normal day. We both slept really good the night before, so I was able to catch up on some stuff around the house.
Then Wednsday, we had a bunch of errands we HAD to run that day, and it was pouring down rain ALL DAY. So we attempted to run a couple of them, and both got soaked up to our knees, so I took Isabelle to my mom's house for a little while, and while we were there, she started grunting and crying like she was trying to pass something...and sure enough! She had swallowed a little piece of a wicker basket! Ouch! I'm just so thankful that it turned the right way long enough for her to get it out!
Last evening, we went over to my brother-in-law's house for my nephew Tanner's 16th birthday. (HAPPY BIRTHDAY TANNER!) Then went straight to church from there, so Isabelle and I were out all day in the rain from 10 yesterday morning until about 9 last night.
LAST NIGHT: Apparently, Isabelle must have picked up a little bug while we were at the doctor's office on Monday, and then being in the rain all day yesterday didn't help, cause neither one of us got any sleep last night. She ended up sleeping in the bed with me because she was so congested, and Daddy had to sleep on the couch. :(
Needless to say, we are both exhausted and still have tons to do to get ready for our trip. (Maybe that's what i shoud be doing instead of typing this post.) Isabelle isn't napping good because she's so stopped up...so that makes it hard to get things done, and I feel like a walking zombie because this is the second night this week that I haven't gotten any sleep...
Well I guess I'm done venting now...you are a trooper if you are still reading this, and I love you.

Oh, Tabby I feel your pain. It is so frustrating when a doctor tells you your kid is fine when you know something is wrong. You are such a good mommy. I hope you get some rest before your trip. Ten hours in the car isn't as relaxing as it sounds.
Poor baby!!
Poor Izzy!!
You had an eventful week! I'm so glad she passed what she swallowed and it didn't cause any damage. It did cause lots of stress though! But you did great trusting your instincts! You knew something was wrong, always listen to that...God gave us that for a reason!! I hope you get some good sleep and have an uneventful trip. I CAN NOT WAIT TO SEE YOU & HUG YOU & HANG OUT WITH YOU ALL!!!!
although i've never personally passed a piece of wicker basket, i'm confident that it wasn't a fun experience for her. glad everything turned out all right and that you guys are reinvigorated soon! :)
I left my comment in person!
So glad you guys are finally here!
Vent away my friend! I will always be willing to listen to it!
